Enable Local Storage Check Box

1. Enable Local Storage Check Box
Checking this box will have QuestionPulse save files with the data it collects for you to review later, even if the database has been pruned for older results (based on the number of days to store results in the database, as set in the General Settings interface). QuestionPulse will only save files if you've set a target Local Folder (set with the Select Folder Button (3), which can be viewed in the Local Folder Label (2)).
2

Local Folder Label

2. Local Folder Label
Shows the target folder path where QuestionPulse will save results files as it completes scrapes. This path can be set with the Select Folder Button (3).

Note: If local storage is enabled with the Enable Local Storage Checkbox (1), the software will not save files if a Local Folder has not been set.
3

Select Folder Button

3. Select Folder Button
Opens a Select Folder dialog where you can choose what folder QuestionPulse will store results as files when local storage is enabled (by checking the Enable Local Storage Check Box (1)).

Note: For best results, create and select a new empty folder to store QuestionPulse result files. Doing so helps prevent clutter when you're sorting through files later. QuestionPulse has options for deleting files based on the age of scrape result files (set with the Keep Files Drop Down (4)) and/or the total number of files saved (set with the Max Files Drop Down (5)). The software uses a specific naming convention to track which files are created with QuestionPulse and will skip files that don't follow this naming convention when deleting, but for optimal performance a dedicated folder is more ideal.
4

Keep Files Drop Down

4. Keep Files Drop Down
When local storage is enabled (by checking the Enable Local Storage Check Box (1)), QuestionPulse will analyze file dates in the target local folder (as set with the Select Folder Button (3) during loops to determine which files are older than the value set here, and will automatically delete result files older than this threshold.

File Age options include:

  • 1 Day - When running, QuestionPulse will delete any results files it has created in your target local folder that are over one (1) day (24 hours) old.
  • 2 Days - When running, QuestionPulse will delete any results files it has created in your target local folder that are over two (2) days (48 hours) old.
  • 3 Days - When running, QuestionPulse will delete any results files it has created in your target local folder that are over three (3) days (72 hours) old.
  • One Week (7 Days) - When running, QuestionPulse will delete any results files it has created in your target local folder that are over seven (7) days (one week) old.
  • One Month (30 Days) - When running, QuestionPulse will delete any results files it has created in your target local folder that are over thirty (30) days (one month) old.
  • Forever - QuestionPulse will not delete any results files it has created in
5

Max Files Drop Down

5. Max Files Drop Down
When local storage is enabled (by checking the Enable Local Storage Check Box (1)), QuestionPulse will count how many results files are currently in the selected local folder and delete any files (oldest first) over the maximum file threshold.

Max File Threshold options include:

  • 100 - When running, QuestionPulse will check the number of results files it has created in your target local folder and delete any files in excess of 100 (deleting the oldest files first).
  • 250 - When running, QuestionPulse will check the number of results files it has created in your target local folder and delete any files in excess of 250 (deleting the oldest files first).
  • 500 - When running, QuestionPulse will check the number of results files it has created in your target local folder and delete any files in excess of 500 (deleting the oldest files first).
  • 1000 - When running, QuestionPulse will check the number of results files it has created in your target local folder and delete any files in excess of 1000 (deleting the oldest files first).
  • All - QuestionPulse will not delete any results files it has created in your target local folder. To prevent and reduce clutter, this setting is not recommended.
6

Save Per Drop Down

6. Save Per Drop Down
When local storage is enabled (by checking the Enable Local Storage Check Box (1)), QuestionPulse can save and append files based in a few different ways, depending on your preferences.

Save Per options include:

  • Scrape - QuestionPulse will save new batches of found questions (and associated data) in a new results file per scrape in the target folder shown in the Local Folder Lable (2) (if local storage is enabled by checking the Enable Local Storage Check Box (1)).
  • Hour - QuestionPulse will create a new scrape results file for each hour, and will append new questions (and associated data) to the file until the system time changes to the next hour, at which point software will create a new file per hour and append new results.
  • Day - QuestionPulse will create a new scrape results file per day, and will append new questions (and associated data) to the file until the system time changes to the next day, at which point the software will create a new file per day and append new results.
